Our commitment
Charlie and Me Sensory aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across this site. Accessibility is part of how the site is built and reviewed, not an afterthought, and reports from real users go to the top of the fix list.
What the site does
- Keyboard: every feature works without a mouse, including the shop filters, search (which also opens with Ctrl+K or ⌘K), accordions, forms and checkout. A skip to content link is the first thing keyboard users reach and focus is always visible.
- Screen readers: pages use real landmarks, ordered headings and labelled controls. Images carry meaningful descriptions, decorative artwork is hidden from assistive technology and dynamic updates (search results, form confirmations, error messages) are announced politely.
- Colour and contrast: text colours on the brand palette are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast and colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Motion: animations are small and quiet and every one of them is switched off automatically for visitors whose device asks for reduced motion.
- Forms: every field has a visible label, required fields are marked, errors are described in words next to the form, and browser autofill is supported throughout checkout and sign in.
- Responsive and zoomable: the site works at 400% zoom and on small screens, with text sized in relative units so browser font size settings are respected.
Known limitations
- Product pages currently use illustrated artwork while photography is being produced. Until real photos (with fuller descriptions) arrive, the “What is inside” list on each product page is the complete, screen reader friendly inventory of every tub.
- The site uses Google Analytics; its script adds no visible interface and does not affect assistive technology, but its processing is outside our control.
- Third party pages we link to (Instagram, Facebook, Google) have their own accessibility standards.
Compatibility
The site is tested on current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, on desktop and mobile and is built with standard HTML so it degrades gracefully in older browsers and works with common screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack.
